To Nantes and Newquay - from Liverpool

YOU all enjoyed the Sea Oddysey earlier in the year, now you can visit the land of the giants itself.

easyJet has announced two new routes for Liverpool John Lennon Airport – the first is to the French city of Nantes, home of Royal de Luxe and the La Machine people.

For those of you who love Cornwall but hate getting there, popular UK holiday destination Newquay has been added to the timetable too.

Both flights start in summer 2013.

Flights are now on sale with Newquay becoming easyJet’s fourth domestic route from Liverpool- alongside Belfast, the Isle of Man and Jersey - while Nantes becomes the fifth French destination available. With these additional new services easyJet will now serve 29 routes in total from Liverpool Airport.

Newquay will operate three times per week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday with fares starting from £27.49* One way) per person. The inaugural flight will take place from Liverpool on 4 July 2013.

Nantes will operate twice per week on Monday and Friday with fares starting from £29.49* (one way) per person. The inaugural flight will take place from Liverpool on 5 July 2013.

Ali Gayward, easyJet Commercial Manager commented: “We are thrilled to be announcing new routes for Liverpool and have carefully selected destinations to compliment the wide range of cities we already serve from the airport. The news demonstrates easyJet’s continued commitment to Liverpool as one our largest airport bases in the UK and a key gateway to the North of England.

This is excellent news as I hate driving to Cornwall.

It might be good news, but what have JLA and Peel been doing over the last few years. Manchester had hardly any budget airline routes a few years back, but now has more easyjet routes than JLA, and even Ryanair has nearly as many. When you get easyjet emails re holidays from the North, there is no mention of Liverpool. On top of this, what has happened to the holiday charter flights, which have all but disappeared, since Direct Holidays were sold? Is there anybody marketing JLA these days?
