What is a Saveaway

Saveaways are cheap, one-day tickets that you can use for travel on buses, trains and ferries in Merseyside after 9.30am Monday to Friday and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Saveaways can be great money-savers compared with ordinary tickets.

There are Saveaway Tickets for adults and young people covering:

• Liverpool
• St Helens
• Wirral
• Southport/Formby
• All-Areas (Whole of Merseyside and as far as Chester, Ellesmere Port and Ormskirk by rail only).

Buying your saveaway...

You can buy your Saveaways from all staffed rail stations in Merseyside and as far as Ellesmere Port and Ormskirk.

These Saveaways look like regular rail tickets but can be used on buses in the chosen area as well. You can show them to station or ferries staff at the barriers or bus drivers as you board the bus.

Merseytravel Centres, at some libraries and over 400 corner shops across Merseyside (there is a full list of addresses on our website or ring Traveline to find your nearest agent).

These tickets are “scratch off” tickets so you can buy them in advance and have them ready for when you want to use them.

You can also buy 10 or more Saveaways by post from Hub Support, 24 Hatton Garden, Liverpool L3 2AN.

Send details of which Saveaways you need, along with payment (cheque payable to Merseytravel with cheque card number and name and address entered on the back, or credit/debit card number with issue number and expiry date).

Travelling by saveaway...

Once you have your Saveaway, you can use it as often as you like after 9.30am Monday to Friday and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays, throughout the area shown.

The ticket is valid on:

• Merseyrail trains in Merseyside and as far as Chester, Ellesmere Port and Ormskirk. (you must have an "all areas" ticket to travel to and from stations outside the Merseyside boundary)

• The Mersey Ferries (All Area Saveaway Tickets only). When travelling by ferry, show your ticket at the ticket office and receive a free boarding pass. See terms and conditions.

• All bus services.*When you board a bus, just show the driver your ticket.

Note: Children travelling on a Young Person’s All Areas Saveaway Ticket must be accompanied by an adult on cross-river buses and Mersey Ferries. Remember, Saveaway Tickets are ‘Not Transferable’, which means they can only be used by one person.
