'First' gay business networking event for Liverpool

MANY of Liverpool's most successful business players are “out and proud” - and this week the first networking event will be held, aimed at the city's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Out At Christmas takes place this Wednesday (Dec 11) and will raise money for the Lord Mayor’s Charities.

It will feature free festive entertainment, networking and refreshments, organised by the Michael Causer Foundation in partnership with the Commercial District BID.

“It is hoped that anyone from Liverpool’s business community and city centre workforce who identifies themselves as LGBT will attend the free networking event, as well as their friends, colleagues and family,” say organisers.

There will also be an opportunity to raise funds for the Lord Mayor’s Charities, which include the Michael Causer Foundation.

Foundation chairman Gerry Proctor said: "We are looking forward to bringing people together, both LGBT employers and employees, and their friends, to celebrate the diversity of the Liverpool workforce.

“This is the first time we think such an event has happened in the business community and we very much hope that it will be well supported by everyone.”

Lord Mayor Gary Millar will attend, along with BID representatives and Julie Ehlen, International Festival for Business project manager at Liverpool Vision.

*Out At Christmas, Oh Me Oh My, West Africa House, Water Street, Liverpool, between 5pm and 7pm on Wednesday, December 11.
