CITY Council Leader Joe Anderson has pleaded with Liverpool's leading cruise line not to leave the city.
Fred Olsen Cruise Lines will abandon its Liverpool cruise programme after June, 2011, in spite of the high demand, due to hazardous docking conditions. The will mean a loss of an estimated £4m to Liverpool's economy through services such as restocking the ship, pilotage, port fees, refuelling and transportation of passengers.

Liverpool FC co-owner Tom Hicks has responded to former owner David Moores' comments in The Times by insisting the club will not be changing hands, yet.
The American conglomorate has put the club on the market for £600m, almost three times the price they paid for it, but insists their is no rush to sell. The fans however do not share this sentiment.

Hicks said: "Liverpool is much better off than it was three years ago."

Another sentiment not shared by the fans.

A swan was mauled to death by a vicious pit bull type dog in Sefton Park.
According to shaken passsers-by, the dog's owner was in her late 20s. She pulled it away when it went for the birds but it overpowered her and got the swan in its jaws for around 30 seconds.

Police busted a cannabis farm hidden inside a south Liverpool house - after smelling the substance from outside.
Officers were drawn to the terraced house in Blythswood Street, Aigburth, and found a secret door concealed behind a mirror that led to a hidden room, home to 694 cannabis plants.

A 39-year-old man was arrested. Police also found between 10kg and 15kg of dried out cannabis. It was bagged up by officers and taken away for testing..
