EasyJet takes off to Isle of Man; Andy Burnham looks for Liverpool support; gearing up for Pageant of Power etc

Published on May 21st 2010.

easyJet, the no frills airline with ticket prices mere mortals can grasp, today launched its new route from Liverpool to the Isle of Man.
With not a volcanic ash cloud in the sky, the daily direct service took off, promising prices from £22.99 one way inc taxes.

Ali Gayward, easyJet UK commercial manager, says: “We’re making the Isle of Man more accessible for the huge numbers of North West business and leisure travellers that visit the island each year.”

New routes to Rhodes, Malta and Bodrum are set to launch next month.

On Tuesday 25 May, Mersey Ferries cross river sailings will run until the later time of 8.45pm to accommodate those wishing to attend the Pageant of Power.
Over 20,000 spectators are expected at Liverpool’s waterfront for a huge air, sea and road display and the later evening sailings will boost transport options for those wishing to attend.

THE Victorian Society is calling on people in Merseyside to nominate Victorian or Edwardian buildings at risk.
The endangered buildings campaign, now in its fourth year, aims to highlight the problems facing many historic structures.

Society director Dr Ian Dungavell said: “We want to ensure that the best examples of Victorian and Edwardian architecture are still there for future generations to enjoy.”

ANDY Burnham has appealed to Labour members in Merseyside, urging them to vote for him in the upcoming leadership contest.
The 40-year-old Evertonian said: “I’m a local lad. I share the hopes and fears of the region.”
