AN off-licence worker hailed “the new Subo”, has wowed X Factor judges in Liverpool, prompting judge Louis Walsh to ask: “Why didn’t we come here before?”

Roger Boyd, 32, travelled from Portrush, Northern Ireland, to amaze the Echo Arena audience with a near perfect audition.

A show source put it delicately: “Just like SuBo, Roger looked a bit geeky and not an obvious star when he walked on without much stage presence, but he launched into Meatloaf’s I’d Do Anything For Love and the crowd went wild.”

EXPECT quieter sleeps inside and more joyriding mayhem outdoors, as, from today, Merseyside Police has lost its own dedicated helicopter and air base.

Under the nationwide changes, Merseyside’s air support will be provided by a new regional fleet.

The nearest helicopter will be stationed in Hawarden – rather than at RAF Woodvale, in Formby.

COMMERCIAL property agent Knight Frank is to close its offices at Liverpool, and place staff members on redundancy consultation to be carried out over the next two weeks.

The firm said today that it was consolidating its north-west operations into its Manchester offices, after re-evaluating the need for having two offices in the region.

Organisers of the BRAZILICA festival estimate that over 60,000 turned out to enjoy the UK’s biggest Brazilian samba carnival in Liverpool over the weekend.

The BRAZILICA Carnival parade saw tens of thousands line the streets on Saturday evening to witness the 500 samba dancers, drummers and stunning floats from 14 samba schools from the UK and Brazil process through the city.
