Want to be in a book?

If you've got an unusual leap year birthday or just want to be involved in a glossy record of your city in the big 08, read on.

Want to be in a book?

2008 is shaping up to be an extraordinary year for Liverpool, and you all know why. For a start, it's a leap year so if you were born in 1972, you might look 36, but really you are only nine and have a very good case for demanding half fare on Merseyrail.

But the city's Capital of Culture status has spin-offs that aren't so obvious. It has provided a rick peg for publishers to hang books about Liverpool on, for a start, with a launch every week, it seems.

But what about 2009 when the bandwagon leaves town? Well, there will be one last book to top the pile. You might want to take a look at it. You might even be in it, especially if you've got one of those rare birthdays.

0151 366 2008, for that is the title, will feature the work of six photographers, passionate about Liverpool, who are collaborating to record, on a daily and nightly basis, the celebrations, activities and the general hubbub of life in the city throughout the whole of the 366 days – taking into account the 29th February.

It will explore the seen and unseen city - but, more importantly, the project will record the life of the city day by day from January 1 at 12.01 am to December 31 11.59 pm.

These images will published in what is hoped will be a remarkable book in 2009, featuring the work of photographers Peter Carr, Neil Lloyd, Mark McNulty, Fiona Shaw, Matt Wardle and Guy Woodland.

Woodland, of Cities500 who are publishing the book and who came up with the lovely Waterfront a few years ago, says: “In another trail blazing element we are inviting the public to participate in the project. We are in the process of launching a dedicated website - to be updated monthly - that will offer an insight into the progress of the project. On that web site members of the public will be able to add their views.”

Meantime, Guy is very keen to hear from anybody in Liverpool born on February 29 or with a wedding anniversary that day, to be included in the book.

If that's you, email him: guy@3662008.co.uk
