LIVERPOOL taxi drivers are widely regarded as the torch bearers for city tourism - which is why there are periodic initiatives to teach them foreign languages and the like.
With this in mind, Liverpool ONE is holding a drop in session for cabbies tomorrow at Everton Park Sports Centre on Great Homer Street.
They are even laying on the bacon butties, and in return they want to pick their planet-sized brains to improve communication.
Ambassadors
The event will take place on Tuesday September 4, from 10am until 11:30am. All Liverpool ONE says it wants in return is "to know what you need from us".
"We are seeking to improve our communication with taxi drivers who we recognise as being among the most important ambassadors for the city," said a spokesman. "So if you have time, drop in and it would be great to hear your opinions."
He added: "Liverpool ONE was recently awarded the Large Visitor Attraction of the year at the Tourism Awards so we want to make sure that we are working well bringing tourists into Liverpool ONE and the city centre."

Liverpool taxi drivers are lovely unless your fare is under a fiver, then they get ar$ey.
no all mate please get facts right before posting comments thanks
Every Delta fare is under a fiver. People get Delta taxis to the bus stop, or, literally, around the corner for a packet of fags. I don't know how they make a living
most of them people who go around the corner as you say mate are people who have problems health wise , scared of gangs , etc please dont judge thanks as of cabs to bus stop Mmm not had a fare like that and i have been with them for about 9 years ..... times have moved on mate from standing in cold waiting for black cabs
I'm not talking about Delta because in my experience private hire are usually okay as they tend to know the fare when they pick you up. It's the black cab drivers that feel they're owed a living
everyone is try to earn a living the way of live
Re the picture above: as usual the black cab is king of the road - or pavement in this instance.
Delta cabs are certainly driven as badly as black cabs. They haven't the faintest clue about lane discipline.
please report them ... the more people do the better ... am a taxi driver so its helps get bad drivers off the road
SRC - brilliant firm.
some cab drivers are bad alot are good i work on delta taxis we should all work as one big team around the city ...

have your say any cab driver any firm thanks
Cab drivers, I like getting home but any chance just once one of you could drive me there without shattering the spead limit and making me fear for my life?
if you ever feel unsafe in a taxi let driver know if he has a go at you take down his taxi number and report him that is the only way to get bad taxi drivers off the road .
I'll never use Davy Liver taxis again after I booked a taxi for 6pm an hour ahead and had to keep calling the horrible, snappy operator for a taxi that arrived at 5 past 7! I phoned Delta instead and was home within 20 minutes. Horrible service from Davy Liver.
It is still remembered how Davy Liver distributed Hatton's redundancy notices to 31,000 Council workers in the 1980s. I haven't set foot in one of their cabs since.
Am a private hire driver in knowsley I often drop off in the city centre I very rarely get a job coming back I don't sit round in the city so the people we drop off don't all use private hire to return home some use black cabs so to say that out of town firms take 70% of business from the black cabs is not true however if the dole didnt send anyone with a licence to be a taxi driver and councils stop giving badges to people who cannot speak two words of English and need a postcode and satnav to go anywhere and more licenceing officers out & about I think everyone would be happy and stop the cherry picking and that goes to black cabs to
Private hire drivers bring people to the city centre and some use black cabs to travel around the city centre so we genarate income for cabbies not take it away maybe black cabs are to expensive old fashioned and that's why there losing trade and the resession won't help either and personal choice after all it's 2014 not the early 1900s we can't dwell on the past an has Beens move on
