The two men then went to the Krunchy Fried Chicken fast food shop on Berry Street and a short time later were assaulted by the same group of men.

The two victims suffered minor injuries and later attended hospital to receive treatment.

Officers attended, CCTV from the surrounding area has been checked and witnesses spoken with.

The men are described as white males, aged between 18 and 25 years, with local accents.

Acting Detective Sergeant Bob Hart, said: "This was a particularly nasty and unprovoked assault on two men who had been enjoying a night out in Liverpool.

”We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously and are appealing to anyone with information to call us to assist the investigation.

”The assault occurred in a fast food restaurant where there were other customers and there are usually taxis in that area at that time of night. I would urge anyone with information about the incident, or anyone who knows the men pictured, to contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Merseyside Police SIGMA Unit on 0151 777 4843 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
