Knowsley is the new Knebworth

Marshall amps at 50,000 watts as The Who, Keane and The Zutons headline the first Knowsley Hall Music Festival

Published on February 8th 2007.

Knowsley is the new Knebworth

The Who will headline a brand new midsummer music festival on the Lord Derby Estate at Knowsley, created by the organisers of Creamfields, it was revealed today.

Keane and The View are also confirmed to play, and local heroes The Zutons, The Coral and The Mighty Wah! Are also among the stellar acts confirmed for the two-day Knowsley Hall Music Festival – with the promise of many more big names to be added.

More than 80,000 people are expected to attend one of the biggest events in the region for years, and what is bound to be one of the hottest tickets on the festival circuit in 2007.

Set in the 2500-acre parkland that is the ancestral home to the Earls of Derby since 1385, the event, which is a non-camping festival, will run on Saturday and Sunday June 23 and June 24.

Announcing the line-up, James Barton, Cream and Creamfields supremo, said: "This city has an amazing musical heritage. We are totally committed to playing our part by providing events that continue that tradition...and also providing events that people will be excited by.

Organiser Jim King from Loud Sound added: “Knowsley Hall ranks right up there with Loch Ness and the Isle of Wight as a magnificent venue to hold a music festival. Having these bands performing at this wonderful site in front of a northern crowd is going to make this an amazing weekend to experience live music.”

Tickets, starting from £37.50 for one day, can be bought from Ticketmaster and Piccadilly Box Office from Monday.
