Sean Halligan workshop

If you're willing to pay, you might fancy booking on to Sean Halligan's six-hour Pinhole Photography workshop (£55/£45) which runs from 10am on Saturday.

Included in the fee, you will receive a kit to assemble your own pinhole camera of the well known Liverpool photographer's design - that is, the the BSL f.400.

Attendees will also learn how to draw with light, develop paper negatives and create the all important finished prints.

Life's colourful pageant
This Saturday the city's streets will once more be awash with crowds, colour and creativity. As Lord Mayor Mike Storey's annual pageant is back, starting around midday at Pall Mall.

Expect to see all forty different shades of green in the always-wacky spectacle which has people, pedals and papier-mâché exuberantly proceeding through town.

The focus this year is on how to be eco-friendly, so that means no printing out your emails, and indeed in this wonderful parade every piece of costume is recycled you know, to bump up the YotE credentials.

Misery Guts
Electric Sheep Records are set to take over Zanzibar this Friday night for the second instalment of their club night which mixes Sci-Fi themes with live acoustic music.

City-based folk four-piece Misery Guts, who release their second single 'Spider' on the independent label later this month, are all set to headline the show.

Rum Jig, David Barnacle, Georgina Strand and The Shabangs will also be taking to the stage on the tiny top floor of the Seel Street venue.

Doors open at 7pm, acts begin at half past. You don't want to miss out so be sure to arrive early.

Shaolin Warriors
The best of Beijing are coming to New Brighton's Floral Pavilion this Friday night. That's right, the Shaolin Warriors: Legends of Kung-FU are in town for one extravagant show only.

The Warriors, who began their UK tour last month, train for several hours every day to obtain near perfection in each of the 18 traditional weapons.

And the critically acclaimed global show, complete with authentic scenery, music and lights, demonstrates some of the deadliest moves in martial arts.

Be thrilled and amazed at the show-stopping steel-bar snapping. Join a Kung-Fu club? Maybe not.
