Capital of Culture bosses were reeling from the “shock” last night that the planned gig starring John Lennon has been moved - again!
Lennon, 42, who was one of the Beatles in the 1960s, is believed to have been in talks for years with embattered culture bosses over the “concert of 1,000 stars”.
It was originally meant to have been staged at the swimming pool of Crosby Leisure Centre - against the stunning televisual backdrop of sand dunes, although nobody could bring themselves to write about it in case the notoriously "sarcastic Beatle" changed his mind.
But increasingly reclusive, we learned just a moment ago that John Lennon, 43, who is famous for penning the catchy “Number 9, Number 9”, will not, in fact, be appearing at Anfield at all.
“They've moved all the goalposts, burnt their boats and scored an own goal,” said a spokesperson for the ex-Beatle who comes from Liverpool.
“This is a cock-up of the highest order,” fumed Councillor Jim Royle who represents the Brookside ward. “Feck,” he added, his hilarious catchphrase.
Paul McCartney, another of the Beatles, will also not be appearing at the baths.
Mick Jagger was unavailable for comment.
Next time: New cock-up as John Lennon Airport is moved.
