THIS week marks Paul McCartney's 72nd birthday, and what better way to celebrate than by sending a flash mob of masked avengers to Liverpool to promote the message that meat is, indeed, murder and to "give peas a chance".
PETA supporters wearing Paul McCartney masks descended on Mathew Street's Cavern Club to hand out what they describe as "delicious veggie sausages" to passers-by, along with DVDs of "Glass Walls", the veggie-loving former Beatle's video exposé of the meat industry.
"We're sure Paul will be delighted that we've chosen to honour his birthday by encouraging the public to give vegetarianism a try," saysPETA Associate Director Mimi Bekhechi. "Whether you're 6 or 64 or, in Paul's case, a very young 72, going vegetarian is a great way to help animals, your health and the environment."
Just don't ask for a Big Macca.
