STEVEN Gerrard's Southport restaurant is to close its doors in April as the Liverpool FC captain prepares to says his own farewell to the Mersey shores.
He may be gone, but he won't be forgotten. Today it is announced that the soccer star's Warehouse Kitchen & Bar is to move its operations and staff to a new venture in Liverpool.
Called the Vincent Café & Cocktail Bar, the location, in the city centre, has not yet been disclosed - but it will transform the LA-bound 34-year-old into a player of a different kind - a Liverpool restaurant player.
It became Gerrard's favourite restaurant, a top haunt of Premiership stars and their good lady WAGs, and for a long time was the only Merseyside restaurant to retain a Michelin Bib Gourmand for good value food.
So Gerrard bought into it in 2010 to relaunch the venue as the Warehouse Kitchen & Bar.
Speaking at the time he said: "If you look back at any interviews I have done where they have asked me about my favourite restaurant - and I have done a lot over the years - I have always said the Warehouse.
"I have been eating there for years because I love the food and the atmosphere, so it is genuinely exciting to become its co-owner with Paul."
The Warehouse will close after the Easter weekend, on April 6.
