Lunya scores again

Lunya scores again

ANOTHER award in the space of a few weeks for newcomer Lunya, which has been named Liverpool’s Best Restaurant at the Lancashire and Cheshire Life Food & Drink Awards.

The restaurant, which opened in March, was up against high profile names including Jamie’s Italian and celebrity-favourite San Carlo.

Owner Peter Kinsella, one-time management consultant who swapped a suit for chef's whites, received the accolade at an awards ceremony held at the Midland Hotel in Manchester.

The Catalonian restaurant and deli in College Lane was named “The People of Liverpool’s Favourite Restaurant” at the Liverpool Food & Drink Festival Awards in September.

Peter said: “We are delighted to have won this award, particularly after being open for just over six months.

“I work with a great team who have put in the long hours that have helped us reach this point.”

Lunya serves a range of tapas and a la carte dishes and you can read what we thought of it here.

Its menu is inspired by the region of Catalunya in north east Spain, and it imports many of its ingredients from artisan producers from the area and from specialist suppliers in the north west of England.

Peter added: “We try to keep our ingredients as authentic as possible, but we have added our own local twist to some Spanish classics, such as our Scouse tortilla, which have been really well received.”
