Happy birthday sweet 60

It's great when you're eight, and 60 Hope Street is inviting all Liverpool Confidential readers to help blow out the candles on its birthday cake with an exclusive treat

Published on January 14th 2010.

Happy birthday sweet 60

It's hard to believe that 60 Hope Street has been open for eight years.

Its launch, way back at the end of the dim and distant 20th century, proved a beacon of light for Liverpool's food lovers; its menus, style and innovative ethos soon raising the game of the city's restaurant scene to a whole new level. 60 Hope Street quickly became established as the place in the city centre to really treat yourself, your friends and business associates.

Now, 60 Hope Street is going to party like it's 1999 (in a befitting way, of course) and Liverpool Confidential readers are in for a special treat.

A celebratory birthday menu has been designed, using regional English ingredients, and from now up until May 31, you can sample it. Choose from a two course meal for £13.95, or three courses for £16.95, and you will also receive a complimentary bottle of wine between two people

Now, just for you, dear reader, the wine has been especially selected, and you can choose either Terres Noires Grenache-Merlot Vin de Pays d’Oc 2006, or Roussanne-Sauvignon Vin de Pays d’Oc 2006 to wash down some great menu favourites such as salmon and Southport shrimp fishcakes, Cumbrian beef, Cains-battered cod and stumpies and Waldorf.

Both wines are made from grapes grown in the warm and sunny Languedoc vineyards around Béziers, and show freshness, character and balance.

We know a good thing when we see it and, with a sumptuous choice of 60 Hope Street favourites on the menu, have already nabbed a table so that we can tuck into a great meal and say “cheers” in person.

See you there!
