Glad tidings we bring

Curry joy as Coriander reopens as the Ceylon Spice Company. New name but same top nosh - and a special offer just for you

Glad tidings we bring

A lot of people got a bit upset when Coriander suddenly closed its doors in October. Indeed, not since he entered, and won, an onion eating contest, had our own food critic, AA Grill, and his pals been so close to tears.

Merseyside had lost what we at Liverpool Confidential, and hundreds of other satisfied punters, ranked as one of the top places to go for an Indian or Sri Lankan meal (see our review here), with its freshly roasted spice blends and obvious commitment to providing a well considered menu of mouthwatering dishes. Dark days.

But no more. News reached us that the restaurant, in St John's Road, Waterloo, was going back into business with Sam and Neil Brown, two of the original four owners, at the helm again. And a new name: The Ceylon Spice Company.

There was a bit of a do last night, pictured here, at which Sam and Neil's supporters from across Liverpool raised their glasses for a big cheers, while Francis Carrasco played tunes for the crowd and the old staff served a buffet of tasty food.

The good news for you is that The Ceylon Spice Company is open to the public from tonight, for Sri Lankan food you've got to try, and, from Tuesday, the Indian chef is back in pole position too.

As a special offer, exclusively for Liverpool Confidential readers, The Ceylon Spice Company is offering two main courses for the price of one (cheapest free) up until Saturday 15 December.

Just call 0151 928 3880 to book. Quote Liverpool Confidential when you do, and print off this page and take it with you when you turn up. Have fun.

The Ceylon Spice Company, 92 St John's Road Waterloo, Liverpool, L22 9QQ. Call 0151 928 3880 to book.
