Weddings at The Portland

Get married in one of Manchester's grandest buildings

Weddings at The Portland

If you're in the process of choosing a Manchester wedding venue, make sure you go to the Wedding Open Evening at The Portland Hotel on Saturday 19 February. It's a chance to see first-hand what this grand city centre hotel has to offer for your big day (and you can enjoy a complimentary glass of bubbly while you're there).

If you pay your deposit on the night, you'll automatically get a 10% discount on the cost of your wedding.

And if you like what you see and pay your deposit on the evening, you'll automatically get a 10% discount on the cost of your wedding.

The Portland, which used to be known as The Thistle, makes an elegant setting for a wedding. It's housed in one of Manchester's most impressive, nineteenth-century buildings – one of the Renaissance Palazzo-style cotton warehouses built by architect Edward Walters who also designed the Free Trade Hall.

As such it has a real sense of history and presence. But the grandeur doesn't come with an excessive price tag. The Portland offers fixed-price, complete wedding packages that don't allow costs to spiral.

For example, their £1,500 package includes red carpet arrival, overnight accommodation in the bridal suite for the bride and groom, a three-course wedding breakfast for 50 guests, an evening finger buffet for 80 guests and the resident DJ and dance floor.

Also included are the all-important details such as cake stand and knife, a hotel toastmaster, white table linen (colours available at a supplement), printed menus, name cards and table plan. And you receive a night’s stay with dinner to celebrate your first wedding anniversary

Other packages are available which include additional elements such as flowers and a sparkling wine drinks reception. The hotel offers a range of menus which can be tailored to your individual requirements, and your guests get discounted rates on overnight stays.

The Portland has a great deal of experience in making weddings unique and memorable, and the staff and wedding team will go out of their way to make your celebration a success.

Go along and meet them at the Wedding Open Evening on Saturday 19 February between 11am and 4pm. Just turn up – no need to book in advance. If you have any queries about the open evening or weddings at The Portland Hotel, please call Julie or Sue on 0161 246 3450 (Monday to Friday). The Portland Hotel is on Portland Street, Manchester city centre, overlooking Piccadilly Gardens.
