Strictly Ballroom needs men

We’re on the hunt for men eager to try something new and have a great time

Published on March 8th 2011.

Strictly Ballroom needs men

Think ballroom dancing is just for girls? Wrong. More and more guys are taking to the dance floor and you could join them with the launch of Strictly Confidential.

If you’ve ever watched Strictly Come Dancing then you’ll know that it’s the guys who are normally the ones adored by the crowds when they take the lead in the dances. And going by their track record, romance could well be on the cards.

Strictly Confidential has teamed up with the Sunshine Dance and Performing Arts Studios to put together a series of ballroom dance lessons for our readers.

Like on the TV show, this is an opportunity for absolute beginners who want to learn how to dance, rather than for people who regularly glide into a foxtrot on a Friday night. You'll start as an amateur, then with one-hour classes every week for 12 weeks, you'll gradually learn how to perform two ballroom dances to a very respectable standard indeed.

You'll be taught by a professional dance instructor from Sunshine Studios Manchester – one of the North's most respected dance and performing arts studios. Their clients include the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky, Walt Disney, and Britain's Got Talent – so we think they know their stuff.

We’ve already had plenty of lovely women take the plunge and sign up, but we’re still searching for eligible bachelors to sweep them off their feet. If you’ve ever watched Strictly Come Dancing then you’ll know that it’s the guys who are normally the ones adored by the crowds when they take the lead in the dances. And going by their track record, romance could well be on the cards.

And each week, we'll do a feature on the different dancers on Manchester Confidential – getting the lowdown on what they've learnt and how they're progressing from the instructor.

It’s a great opportunity to get expert advice whilst having fun with other like-minded individuals. Not only will you gain a lifelong skill, but there’s also a chance you could find friendship, or maybe more, on the dance floor.

For all involved, it will be the most exhilarating three months of their year. They'll be getting fit, learning a new talent, and discovering the joy of being able to dance well – a skill that can be enjoyed for life.

Lessons will begin on March 1st and will be held every Tuesday night from 8-9pm until May 31st. The lessons will take place at Sunshine Studios, which is on Newton Street in the Northern Quarter, Manchester city centre.

The 12 ballroom dancing lessons cost £135. Only 20 guys will be able to take part in the lessons and places will be given to those who apply first. Once you’ve applied, we’ll pair you up with a dancing partner and who knows where you’ll go from there…
