Event information

Now in its third year, this special event will see John Barrowman wooing crowds at Salford’s Buile Hill Park. Known the world over as Captain Jack in Torchwood and Doctor Who, John has most recently been guesting as a villain in the hit US TV series Desperate Housewives. John started his career as a leading man in West End musicals, starring alongside Elaine Paige in Anything Goes, and has gone on to further success in productions ranging from Chicago, the Phantom of the Opera and Miss Saigon to Love's Labours Lost, Aladdin and A Few Good Men.

BBC Proms in the park in Salford is the biggest ticketed event on the city’s events calendar, with a capacity crowd of around 8000 music lovers flocking to Buile Hill Park on 11 September.

Timetable

* 4.00pm Gates open
* 6.30pm First performance begins
* 9.30pm Finale with spectacular firework display

What do I need to bring?

As the event will go on until 9.30pm we advise you to bring along some warm clothing as the weather may turn cold late on. You can also bring picnic rugs and your own food and drink (but no glassware, please see conditions of entry).

The tickets are general admission tickets only. Guests are welcome to bring chairs to the event but we would ask that no tables are brought onto the event site and that chairs are positioned taking in the consideration the views and space of other guests.

Site facilities

There will be a variety of multi-cultural food and refreshments available in the park on the evening and there will also be an onsite bar selling beer, wine and spirits. There will also be toilets and baby changing facilities on site.

Accessibility

A limited amount of spaces are available for wheelchair users in our special hard surface viewing area but these must be booked in advance.

A hearing loop will also be fitted in a designated signposted area.

Car parking

As parking is limited at Buile Hill Park we strongly advise that you pre-book your parking space. Parking is available on or near the park to pre-booked parking ticket holders only.

There is very little on-street parking in the area and you are advised to pre-book parking or use public transport. Please be considerate to local residents by not parking on local streets

We cannot guarantee parking near to the venue unless you pre-book your space.

Conditions of entry

* No naked flames or BBQs allowed on site.
* Alcohol is permitted but no glasses - plastic cups only.
* Entrants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
* Free entry for children under 3.
* No tables
* No pets - guide dogs only.
* No gazebos or parasols.
