Lost Weekend (May 31-June 2)

Scoop and scoop
CLEANING up litter from a beach is not always one's idea of, well, a day at the beach. But chuck in a bottle of chardonnay and the Knightsbridge gal's top totty, Ben Fogle, and you're on.

The national Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project, now in its sixth year, reaches New Brighton tomorrow, with the blond Sloaney leading a clean up of the Mersey sands.

Barefoot Wine has teamed up with environmental charity Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) to encourage volunteers to join the coastal clean. After collecting a Barefoot Wine/SAS t-shirt and any necessary kit, volunteers will spend an afternoon collecting litter along the beach, and end the day with a celebratory glass of Barefoot Wine.

Fogle said: “The 2012 Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project saw over three tonnes of litter collected from the UK’s coastline, including a sawn off shot gun, old signage and lots of tin cans!”

Go on, make him miss his last train.

Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project, Fort Perch Rock, New Brighton. Beach Clean Time: 2 – 4pm. Celebratory Drinks: 4 – 5pm
