In The City 2010

In The City 2010

Think festival season is over until next summer? Not quite. You've got one last chance for a big blow-out – and this one doesn't involve tents, wellies or any hassle at all.

Wristbands are on sale now at £29 a pop. That's less than a tenner a day – and it includes free entry to see Doves at the Warehouse Project

In The City returns on Wednesday 13 October for three blinding nights of the best new music in the world. That sounds like quite a statement...but when your previous line-ups feature the likes of The Foo Fighters, Oasis, Elbow, Coldplay, The Smashing Pumpkins, Bjork and Daft Punk, you can say it without blushing.

This annual festival / music industry conference is Manchester's chance to see all that's good and right on the music scene – without having to venture beyond the Northern Quarter and Piccadilly.

And the beautiful thing is that you only have to buy one ticket to get access to all the gigs. That's 200-plus bands – all playing at venues within stumbling distance of each other – on one wristband.

Acts playing this year include No Age, Mount Kimbie, Male Bonding, Sky Larkin, Health, and Pulled Apart By Horses. And about 194 more.

With so much going on, it might be tricky keeping track of who to see and where. That's why In The City has launched a free iPhone app that lets you plan your schedule, browse gigs on a map, and find out which are the most talked-about bands at the festival. Download it for free here.

Wristbands are on sale now at £29 a pop. That's less than a tenner a day – and it includes free entry to see Doves at the Warehouse Project on the night after the festival closes – Saturday 16 October. There's free entry for 100 wristband holders – get there early to get in.

So if you want to make this month a good one, get yourself a wristband. It's all the excuses you need to go out, make new friends, and listen to some of the best bands you'll hear in ages.
