LIVERPOOL’S Malmaison has made the UK Top 10 hit list of the trendiest places to stay.
The award, from Trip Advisor, will be seen as a huge fifth birthday boost for the The Princes Dock hotel. The Mal relaunched last year after a design fault to its external cladding saw it covered in scaffolding for 18 months.
The awards are based on guest reviews which are used to rank hotels nationwide on areas including service and room quality.
And there was more top ranking for Liverpool. The city itself came 10th in Best Destinations In The UK 25, thrashing the likes of Windermere, Brighton, Canterbury and Manchester.
Helen Caters, general manager of the Liverpool Malmaison, told Liverpool Confidential: "After winning a string of industry led awards since launching the hotel almost five years ago, we’ve always known that The Liverpool Mal has been something to shout about.
"To be voted 10th trendiest UK hotel in the Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice awards 2012 is the most rewarding accolade to date.
"It’s particularly rewarding as it’s been made possible because the guests who have been wowed and felt compelled to share their experiences with the rest of the world."
base2stay has its own charmsMeanwhile, over on Seel Street, base2stay was celebrating coming 16th in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards for the UK’s Best Accommodation overall. It is the first time any hotel in Liverpool has made the grade in that particular top 25. It also nipped at the heels of the Liverpool Mal, coming 12th in the Trendiest 25 list.
Cheap sleeps in Liverpool got the voters' thumbs up too. The Liverpool Days Inn hotel came seventh in the Top 25 Bargain Hotels category. Hotel Indigo came in at 16th and Premier Inn, at Liverpool Airport, 19th.
