Lantern looks for caring new owner

THE Lantern Theatre is on the look-out for “ a new caring owner” - after its directors were overrun by the patter of tiny feet at the “intimate” venue.

Clare KeatingClare KeatingArtistic Director Liam Scott and MD Clare Keating have run the 85-seater theatre, on Blundell Street, opposite the Kings Dock, for two years, proudly declaring that it has “warmed the hearts of local artists and community groups”.

But owing to family commitments - they have recently given birth to twins and already have two children and another business to run - they say they can no longer commit to the development the theatre needs and deserves.

This is however a fantastic opportunity for someone to make this place thrive,” says Claire. “It would be such a shame for the theatre to close and go back to a warehouse as a lot of love and care has gone in it.”

Liam ScottLiam ScottThey are inviting interested parties to submit a proposal of ideas and financial offers etc… to them by Friday July 15. But they aren't giving it away to anyone. “The new business owner would ideally have a theatre and business background and able to seek funding support.

“All applicants will be considered and final decision will be made on longevity, experience and financial stability.”

So email info@thelanterntheatre.co.uk if you want to own a fully equipped theatre with a licensed bar and, who knows, maybe something special in the water.
