One venue under a groove....that's the Philharmonic Hall next week when it becomes the Funkharmonic Hall, offering two souled out shows to get the glitter ball spinning.
First, Detroit soul sensation Amp Fiddler turns up on Wednesday 3 October. Most recently known for recording a single with Corinne Bailey Rae, Joseph "Amp" Fiddler is a keyboard player, singer, songwriter and producer who plays funk, soul, dance and electronica. He is probably best known for his contributions to the band Enchantment, and as part of George Clinton’s Parliament and Funkadelic groups during the 1970s and 80s.
Second up and it's Third World, at the Phil on Sunday 7 October.
Influenced by soul, funk and disco, this long time favourite Jamaican reggae band's pop sound is radio-friendly gold.
Formed in 1973, they rose to fame with the release of Now That We've Found Love, triggering collaborations with Steve Wonder among others. Still massively popular, Third World recently performed to a huge television audience at the Cricket World Cup 2007 Opening Ceremony inKingston.
