Multi-million selling Norwegian pop trio A-ha have been banging out the hits for 25 years and we’ve got two tickets to see them live at the MEN Arena on Saturday night (November 20).
This is the last time the band will perform together for the very last time in the UK on their Farewell Tour in November.
The band has sold more than 35 million albums and has had 15 top 10 singles in the UK alone. Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmen and Pal Waaktaar-Savoy will perform their final shows together in 2010, the 25th anniversary of the release of debut album ‘Hunting High & Low’.
Their critically acclaimed current album ‘Foot Of The Mountain’ – the band’s ninth - will also be their last, as A-Ha call it a day.
“We’ve literally lived the ultimate boy’s adventure tale, through a longer, more rewarding career than anyone could hope for,” says Morten. “Doing this now will give us a chance to get more involved in other meaningful aspects of life, be it humanitarian work, politics, or whatever else – and of course through new constellations in the field of art and music.
The band’s most legendary live show, at Maracana Stadium, Rio De Janeiro in 1991, earned a Guinness World Record for the largest-ever audience - 196,000 people - attendance at a paid concert.
The band are probably best remembered for debut single ‘Take on Me’ and its ground breaking video, which reached number 1 in 27 countries including the USA.
