Chester Food, Drink & Lifestyle Festival is shaping up to be a massive event this year. Cheshire Racecourse is the epicentre of all the activity with the main event – the Taste Festival - taking place over the three days of Easter Weekend, 3-5 April 2010.
Here there'll be a large producers' market where you can stock up on the region's finest food stuffs. Loads of farms, cottage industries, home-bakers, cheese-makers, and so on will be there with an impressive range of top quality produce, from shrimps to cider to speciality sausages.
The producers market will be held in the racecourse's main pavilion and parade ring. Surrounding this will be a food court featuring some fantastic Cheshire restaurants, children's entertainment, and live music. There's a great line up of celebrity chefs with Simon Rimmer, Andrew Nutter, Thomasina Miers and Michael Caines all doing demonstrations. A second demo area will feature chefs from favourite local restaurants, and there'll be various seminars about food and drink.
There's also going to be a homes and gardens exhibition with chalets featuring arts and crafts, gifts, furniture, plants, and lots of lovely things for the home and garden. It's a chance to buy and be inspired by gorgeous items you won't find on the high street.
Then in the evenings, there'll be a Chester’s newest Beer Festival - BeerFest - with live bands, bitter for £2.50 a pint, and lots of independent brewers showcasing their ales. It looks like it'll be a top day out. If you want to do something special with your bank holiday weekend, get yourself down there.
