Detoxretox has just re-opened as a vegetarian bistro and bar – the only one in the entire city centre. And it's got a head chef fresh from the kitchens at Noma in Copenhagen, which was named 'Best Restaurant in the World' in 2010 by Restaurant magazine.
It's a real plus for Manchester this – a vegetarian eatery which isn't a low-key daytime café but a sophisticated licensed bistro that opens in the evenings and weekends.
The a la carte menu features dishes including Halloumi 'fish', chips and mushy peas, and Lancashire cheese double baked soufflé with purple sprouting broccoli, lyonnaise potatoes and homemade relish.
There's also a tapas menu, a brunch menu for Saturdays and Sundays, and a choice of veggie roasts on Sundays.
And all the alcohol in the bar will be vegetarian. Excuse our ignorance for assuming alcohol is vegetarian by standard . It's not – there's all kinds of animal-derived ingredients lurking in there.
And here's your chance to win a meal for two there including a bottle of the house wine.
