As Manchester city centre’s only vegetarian bistro and bar, Detoxretox has been joylously embraced by vegans, vegetarians, and a fair number of meat eaters too.
Head chef Wendy Swetnam previously worked at Noma in Copenhagen, 'officially' the best restaurant in the world, so you can expect something better than your average veggie fare here.
The Mosley Street restaurant has put together a special menu for Mother's Day (Sunday 3 April) – and they are offering one Confidential reader the prize of a three-course meal for four including a bottle of wine.
They've just sent us a sneak preview of the Mother's Day menu – here's what you and Ma could be tucking into.
The three starters are Pea pancakes with yoghurt curd and chives, Baby beetroot and radish salad with spring lettuce (vegan), and Turnip chips and coriander salsa (vegan).
For mains, choose between Porter pie (vegan), or Cherry tomato tatin with rocket and cashew nut pesto (vegan), or Baked blue cheese terrine. All served with buttered jersey royal new potatoes, asparagus and baby carrots.
For your dessert, you have another three options: Traditional Mother's Day simnel cake (vegan), or Raisin buns with butter and homemade pink grapefruit marmalade (vegan), or Rose scented white chocolate pot with violet cookies.
The Mother's Day menu, including tea or coffee, costs £14 for two courses and £17 for three courses – we recommend you book in advance as Detoxretox tends to get full at weekends. Call them on 0161 236 181 to book.
And as all the alcohol in the bar is vegetarian, you can enjoy the entire dining experience knowing there won’t be any animal-derived ingredients lurking in your glass.
And Confidential readers can get a £14 discount at Detoxretox until the end of March with our offer for three courses and a cocktail for just £18. Click here for details.
