Win £100 worth of treats

TV PRESENTER Peaches Geldof has combined designing talents and green credentials to create a new eco bag, exclusively for Golden Square shopping centre in Warrington, and we have one, filled with £100 of goodies to give away.

The high street shopping centre approached Peaches to design the re-usable shopper as part of their Bin the Bag campaign, which aims to make Golden Square the first UK shopping centre to become a plastic bag free zone.

You may have thought it was all going down over in Liverpool One this week, but you'd be wrong. Five thousand of the Peaches bag will be produced initially, with 500 given away to lucky shoppers this Friday (May 30), the day of launch, and the remaining 4,500 will be sold priced £3.50 each, with all profits going to Peaches’ chosen charity The Sea Turtle Trust.

Golden Square will be giving its customers the choice to say no to plastic bags with the introduction of the Peaches eco bag, with many retailers already on board with the scheme. The ‘Eco Chic’ bag will be available to buy from Debenhams and the main customer service desk.

Peaches says: “Scientific studies have shown that plastic bags are damaging to marine species, including whales, dolphins, seals, puffins, fulmars and turtles. Some marine species, such as the endangered leatherback turtle, a summer visitor to Scottish waters, mistake plastic bags for their normal prey of jelly fish, with deadly results. Many marine species are now affected by the minute toxic particles that plastic items, including bags, are reduced to by photodegradation, leading to a weakening of their immune system.

“I enjoyed creating the design for the bag, my aim was to produce something fun and colourful that would look great with this summers hot colour looks.”

To win a Peaches bag filled with £100 worth of treats and goodies from Golden Square Shopping Centre, just fill in the boxes below.

A number of the £3.50 bags (empty ones) will be given away on the Golden Square website all next week.
