JACK Peñate, the boy version of Lily Allen and Kate Nash, if our hearing serves us correctly, is heading out on a nine date UK headline tour beginning this weekend.
This is exciting news for all his fans, as it follows a run of sold-out dates earlier this year and the success of Jack's acclaimed single Tonight's Today, the first taster of his new, second album, Everything is New.
Jack's grandfather was Gormenghast author Mervyn Peake. As a teenager, he formed a band called Jack’s Basement, which apparently featured his school chum Felix White. He went on to become lead guitarist for The Maccabees who we are sure were/are very good.
Anyroadup, for all you trendy pop pickers (that's clearly not the author of this piece, ed) who happen to adore Jack Penate, we have five fabulous pairs of tickets (worth £22 a set) to give away for his gig at the 02 Academy in Liverpool this coming Sunday night (June 14). You can buy tickets, by visiting www.gigsandtours.com
But, but, but.... to be in with a chanceof winning some of the free ones what we have sitting here, just provide us with the best anagram of Gormenghast in the box below.
This competition has now closed. Congratulations to our winners: Karen Podesta, Samantha Brocklehurst, Gemma Whittle, Laura Green, Dave Easson and their Gormenghast anagrams: Grog anthems, garment hogs; gag me horns; ms thong rage and hamster gong. Hope you enjoy the igg.
